The World Is Bigger Than You Think
One thing I really want you to understand early is this:
The world is much bigger than the place you are standing in right now.
Your current environment is not the entire world.
Your school is not the world.
Your current social circle is not the world.
The opinions around you are not universal truth.
I think one of the most valuable decisions I ever made was leaving Japan.
Not because Japan is bad.
But because leaving completely shattered many assumptions I did not even realise I had.
Before leaving, I thought many things were “normal.”
How people should live.
What success should look like.
How adults should behave.
What stability meant.
What happiness meant.
Then I left.
And suddenly I realised:
People live completely differently all over the world.
Different values.
Different priorities.
Different lifestyles.
Different ways of thinking.
That experience changed me permanently.
Honestly, I was not confident in my English either.
Not at all.
I was nervous.
Uncertain.
Probably underprepared.
But I am so glad I jumped anyway.
Because confidence usually comes after action — not before it.
That is something I want you to remember.
A lot of people stay stuck because they wait to feel “ready.”
But many important decisions in life happen before you feel ready.
Sometimes you simply need to step forward first.
Then slowly grow into the next version of yourself.
I also want you to understand this:
You do not need to stay close to people who constantly make your world feel smaller.
Some people drain your energy.
Some people project fear onto others.
Some people are uncomfortable when others change.
That is their limitation.
Not yours.
You are allowed to grow beyond environments that no longer fit you.
You are allowed to explore different lives.
The world is huge.
There are people out there who will understand you better.
Places that will suit you better.
Ways of living you cannot even imagine yet.
But you only discover those things if you move.
Fear makes the world look small.
Experience makes it bigger.
That is why I want you to keep trying things.
Travel if you can.
Meet different people.
Challenge your assumptions.
Touch different worlds.
You do not need to become fearless.
You just need to stop believing fear is always telling the truth.
Sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply take one step outside the life everyone expects from you.
That single step can change everything.
