To My Son|Episode 3

The Danger of Looking Rich

I want to tell you something honestly.

I do not believe young people should only save money and avoid fun.

Go travel.
Buy nice clothes sometimes.
Enjoy good food.
Experience life.
Upgrade things.
Try things.
Explore the world.

I think those experiences matter.

Your younger years are not only for survival.

They are also for discovery.

And honestly?

Some people become financially obsessed so early that they forget how to actually live.

I do not want that for you either.

But here is the important part:

Do not build your entire life around upgrading forever.

Because every upgrade has a hidden long-term cost.

A nicer car often means:

More repayments.
More insurance.
More maintenance.
More pressure.

A bigger lifestyle usually creates bigger obligations.

And many people slowly trap themselves without realising it.

That is the danger.

Not enjoying life.

But becoming dependent on expensive living.

The world constantly tells people:

“Upgrade.”
“Level up.”
“You deserve more.”

And sometimes that is true.

But if you never stop upgrading, eventually your lifestyle begins controlling you.

Your fixed costs rise.
Your stress rises.
Your freedom shrinks.

Then one bad event can shake everything:

Job loss.
Illness.
Relationship breakdown.
Economic downturns.

Life becomes much harder when your lifestyle is expensive to maintain.

That is why I care so much about keeping life flexible.

Freedom matters.

Not because money itself matters most.

But because freedom changes how you experience life.

People with lower pressure often think more clearly.
Sleep better.
Recover faster.
Take more meaningful risks.

I learned this slowly myself.

And honestly, I understand why people chase appearances.

I did too.

Most people do at some point.

There is nothing wrong with wanting nice things.

Just do not confuse looking successful with being stable.

They are not the same thing.

I want you to enjoy your younger years.

I want you to experience life fully.

But I also want you to understand that every lifestyle choice creates future consequences.

Some purchases create memories.

Others create long-term pressure.

Learn the difference early.

It will save you years of stress later.
