Don’t Chase Butterflies, Build the Garden
One day, you’ll start thinking about money.
You’ll hear about investing.
Stocks.
Crypto.
Bitcoin.
People will tell you
“start early”
“don’t miss out”
“this is the future”
Some of that is true.
But there’s something more important
that most people skip.
Don’t chase butterflies.
Build a garden.
Butterflies are things like:
Money
Success
Opportunities
Freedom
They look exciting.
And they are.
But if you chase them,
they run away.
Instead, focus on your garden.
Your garden is:
- Your skills
- Your ability to earn
- Your health
- Your discipline
- Your ability to manage money
- Your safety net (emergency fund)
This is what actually creates your life.
Investing comes after that.
Not before.
Investing is just planting seeds.
And seeds take time.
Years.
Decades.
That’s how wealth really grows.
You’ll also see things like Bitcoin.
And here’s my honest advice.
If you want to try it,
go ahead.
But only do it if you understand this:
It’s high risk.
You can win.
You can also lose.
So if you try Bitcoin or anything similar:
- Only use money you can afford to lose
- Don’t chase hype
- Don’t expect fast results
Treat it as experience, not a shortcut.
I’m 48 now.
At my stage of life,
I don’t take big risks anymore.
That’s why I don’t do things like day trading.
But if I were 20 years younger,
I might have tried it once.
That’s the point.
Your strategy changes with your life stage.
So don’t copy anyone blindly.
Not influencers.
Not friends.
Not even me.
Think for yourself.
Build your garden first.
Then plant seeds.
Then wait.
One day, you’ll look around
and realise something.
You’re not chasing butterflies anymore.
They’re just there.
